o    Why do you believe completing a nurse residency program will be beneficial to your development as a professional nurse?  (I have listed a few of my thoughts and ideas hat might help answer the questions… a nurse residency program through OU because this hospital is one of the best teaching hospitals in the nation. A nurse residency program will be beneficial because I’ll be able to follow a preceptor and learn the ropes from the best nurses around to be able to provide the best patient care I can, and to broaden my knowledge, help me to gain confidence and feel like you are part of a family I believe that will be beneficial to my development as a professional nurse because I would have be given the opportunity to have some unique opportunities while working here that I wouldn’t get at other hospitals. Also, there is an education and research class that we do each month and I believe that will not only help me to gain more knowledge on the latest evidence based practice but also strengthen the teamwork with the other nurse residents. You aren’t given many opportunities like this in your nursing career. This will allow me to have unique opportunities, staying up to date on the latest evidence based practice which will be beneficial to my development as a professional nurse)

(same as above just a few of my thoughts and ideas I put down that might help…My nursing practice aligns with your mission because being able to provide leading health care now and for the future will be beneficial for the patients, for the unit, and for the hospital. It is important to provide leading health care now, and being in the here and now, but also looking into the future. Looking for the latest and greatest evidence and research that is available. Your values are congruent with my nursing practice because I believe that care for patients must be at the center of all that we do. We need to be patient advocates, and est a strong and trusting nurse-patient relationship which comes with acting with honesty and integrity. Teamwork is one of the most important parts of a successful unit, with teamwork comes respect for both colleagues and co-workers. Etc etc. Their missions and values are listed below)
How will you become an asset to the OUMS family and enhance quality patient care? (A few thoughts and ideas…I’ll be an asset to the family because I’m always looking for a learning opportunity. Willing to learn. Willing to do what is best for my patient, the team, the unit, and the hospital. I am flexible, honest, and caring. Pull from their values some of the key words. I will be able to enhance quality patient care by staying abreast on the latest evidence based practice to provide the best quality patient care. Always putting my patients first. Gaining a strong nurse-patient relationship to gain trust, having open communication with my patients and the team, and to empower my patients to be advocates for themselves. Educating my patients on how to improve their health etc etc. )
