Students will submit early in the term a plan that will outline their approach to a topic or topics of interest in business law.  This should be sufficiently detailed to clarify what materials will be used, what will be done with those materials and the time frame for this work.  Students are encouraged to be creative, ambitious but also realistic.  Students should periodically amend their plans as they proceed through the term. The instructor will provide feedback about the suitability of the topic and the approach to be taken. During the term, students should submit documentation that attests to their progress on their projects. Other than that scheduled, it is the student’s responsibility to pursue individualized feedback.  It is an excellent strategy to turn in additional outlines and rough drafts for comment and improvement. Students might take the opportunity to investigate in detail a legal issue faced by a particular industry or profession.  For these purposes, a research project should entail the use of primary and secondary legal sources.  Good papers should be well written, well researched and well documented.

Final project grades will be determined by the following factors:

1)    Ambitiousness of the project
2)    Accomplishment of the project
3)    Effort expended on the project’s execution
