Write a 1,750 to 2,100 word research paper analyzing a significant scientific
discovery that charted the course of Western civilization. In addition to a
description of the discovery and the people primarily responsible for it, include
the following information in the analysis:

Describe the social, economic, and political factors that influenced the
discovery.
