Choose five political, social, or economic events that occurred between 1865 and 1945, which you consider to be the most important and that have contributed the most to the national identity and our modern society.
Some examples of potential topics include, but are not limited to:

o City life and city culture
o The political machine
o The Spanish American War

o The Roaring 20s
o The Great Depression

o Pearl Harbor

Write an essay that covers all five of the events that you chose. Make sure to divide your paper into sections by using subheadings and address the following in your descriptions of the chosen events
Who was involved in the event
What happened with this event provide a description of the event that gives enough detail to give someone with no prior knowledge a good idea of what occurred.
When the event happened
Where the event happened was it a national event or something that happened overseas or a particular area of the country?
Why you chose the event what makes this one of the five most important events of our time span, in your opinion? How has the event contributed to our national identity into the present day?

Conclude your paper by describing what you believe the American identity is and which of your chosen events helped to shape this the most.
