Biography of a Scientist Who has Entered the Public Realm.

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

Essay should include the following:
1. One or more citations for each paragraph to show where the information came from.
2. A clear discussion of the early history and education of the scientist and the later career trajectory.
3. Discussion of the scientist’s goals, claims, and accomplishments.
4. Discussion of suppression experienced and/or challenges faced and career outcome.
5. Discussion of legacy or effects.
6. Analysis of levels of capital (symbolic, cultural, social, financial, temporal) in the home research field and in any secondary fields. For example, Linus Pauling had high levels of capital as a biologist/chemist, but much lower levels in the cancer research field that he entered.
7. Good paragraphing with strong topic sentences that serve as transitions between paragraphs; careful editing of punctuation and grammar.
