MEC509 COURSEWORK Manufacturing Technology Rationale The assignment will be group based (maximum three per group) and aimed to provide students with a technical knowledge of the build configuration, operational procedures and application of production high speed milling centres.

Coursework Assignment. Submit a detailed technical report and Power-Point presentation on the application of 5 Axis CNC High Speed Milling and the optimisation of CNC High Speed Milling programming.. Provide a detailed technical description and 3D-CAD model to demonstrate how three linear axes and two rotary axes are combined to provide 5 Axis machining capability. Review the EcoSpeed F Machine Tool (www.ds-technologie.de) and provide a detailed technical description and 3D CAD model to demonstrate how the spindle achieves 3 Axis capability. (30 marks)

(b) Review www.omative.com and provide a detailed analysis on the technology and application of adaptive control systems associated with multi-axis CNC machine tools.
