Geo-News Analysis
Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements
please follow the instruction i posted. thank you again.
Points Possible 10
- Please note, full instructions for this assignment type are available here (opens in a new window).
- The assignment involves locating and analyzing a newsarticle that contains geological content that is relevant to course concepts. “News” implies an article that is recent – within the last two months if possible but no older than seven months without permission.
- Complete your assignment by using the template form attached to the assignment.
- Please avoid articles that deal with Vancouver or your chosen research area. If you find stories about Vancouver or your research area, please post these to the General Discussion.
- Articles should be substantive:
- Length should be beyond a few paragraphs.
- Ensure that the source is reputable; traditional newspapers and press agencies will be your best source.
- Please ensure that you use a news article, not a press release. A press release is a summary that originates with the organization that is responsible for the story content – in essence, they report on themselves. A number of organizations, including universities, issue press releases upon completion of a research project or publication of an article in a journal. So do mining companies. Avoid these, please.
- Do not use blogs, National Geographic News, or Science Daily.
- For GeoNews Assignment 2, please draw from content, concepts and learning objectives of course modules 4-6.
- For each entry, you are asked to:
- Cite the source of the article (please use APA format).
- Briefly summarize the article content.
- Reflect on the relevance of the article content to the concepts and learning objectives of the specified modules.
- Analyse the geological content of the article, identifying and synthesizing those geological principles and processes which are intrinsic to understanding the implications of what is reported.
- Analyse the geological setting/situation of the area that you are reporting upon and compare and contrast it to Vancouver and your Geoscape Project location.
- Please note all assignment submission times are in Pacific Time.
