Please type your
book report according to the instructions found on page 5 of this syllabus. The main purpose of this report is to provide an avenue for you to record your thoughts on what you have read. Type one page in length, consisting of 3 paragraphs of 8-10 sentences each, double spaced, with 11 or 12 font, on white paper.
In the first paragraph, state the title and author of the book. Provide a brief description about the background of the author, and also include his reasons for writing the book. Additionally, describe your personal background knowledge about Central California and the
itinerant farmworker experience before reading the book. Conclude the first paragraph with what you had hoped and/or predicted to learn from it.
In the second paragraph, list the main characters and describe the setting (where and when the
story took place) of the book. Include a brief overview of the book’s plot and story line.
In the last paragraph, state whether or not you would recommend the book to your fellow classmates. Additionally, tell the reader if you think the characters were believable and/or likable. Describe any connection or similarities that you shared with the main character. For example, did you and the character have a similar childhood or culture? Finally, include what you learned from the book. Was the outcome/result of your learning the same or different from what you had predicted before you actually read the book?
