Moral obligation to pay wages
You are the CEO of a major corporation and an important part of your production happens in China. You know about those poor working conditions. To increase their wages would reduce the profitability of your products by 3%. Given this reduction, do you have a moral obligation to pay your workers a little bit better? What about a living wage? Does the reason that ‘working in poor conditions’ is still better than prostitution provide you with sufficient moral justification for not changing those conditions?
