strip every week and the council arranges for someone to pick u

garbage and take it away.

However, we all have to start thinking about the things we thro

away because garbage disposal has become a major economic and
environmental problem for us all in the 21
st
century.
Revlon Case
?
In December 2009 three (3) Workers were critically
injured after an explosion at a medical waste disposal
facility in the ACT.
?
This case was this week settled in the ACT Supreme
Court for $6.6 million.
Revlon Case
The following is a summary of the main, key issues
and learnings from this case.

The Waste Generator failed to inform the Waste
Transporter that the cosmetic waste in the bins
collected on the day of the incident included
pressurised aerosol cans.
?
The Waste Generator did not have a sorting system
to segregate cosmetic waste in order to prevent
pressurised cans entering the disposal stream;
?
The Waste Generator knew, or ought to have
known, the risks involved in the disposal of
the products;
?
The Waste Generator did not provide
instruction or training to its employees on the
risks of disposal of certain products; and
?
It was also argued that the Waste Transporter
(who was also the Waste Processor) failed to
take practical steps to ensure that
pressurised aerosol cans were not shredded.
