Essay #4: Flannery O’Connor
The stories we have read by Flannery O’Connor, “A Good Man is Hard to Find” and “Everything that Rises Must Converge”, are prime examples of
Southern Gothic literature and a couple of America’s most anthologized works. The seriousness of her eternal perspective is always evident even through the moments of humor that at times are so subtle they may be imperceptible.
What
common literary elements or techniques (such as irony, symbolism, and characterization) are found in both works that help to show this theme?
