Do their absolutely have to be rules and legalities in religious practices or would there be a way to by pass all the rules and look to something of greater good?

Do their absolutely have to be rules and legalities in religious practices or would there be a way to by pass all the rules and look to something of greater good? What do you all think? Baptize infants, or adults? Communion for believers or all. Church inclusive or exclusive. How should it be?

Sometimes we have to change that which is taught from the old for newer revealed truth that the society as a whole accepts. Do you agree or disagree with this? Why? Is there anything such as antiquated truth?
