Admission/Application Essay, Biology Food Biodiversity Limits

Admission/Application Essay, Biology Food Biodiversity Limits

Consider the variety of foods of the animal and plant kingdoms ingested by humans. Are all plants and animals edible? Are there limits on what kinds may be eaten? Does the variety relate to such limits, or is the variety entirely cultural? – Are inedible plants related taxonomically?
Consider both Biblical limits, and evolutionary and/or biodiversity limits. Is Man by design or evolutionary development unsuited for some types of foods? The focus in this course is biology; however, relating biological issues to the Bible is appropriate here.
For example, in Scripture, consider Genesis 1:29 which mention green plants – was Man given poisonous plants to eat? Compare with Genesis 2:9 and 2:16, which mention only food from trees. Contrariwise, see Genesis 2:5, where Adam tills the garden – what is tilling for, except for farming crops?. Consider Genesis 9:3,4 in light of the fact that Jesus, the perfect man, ate fish and presumably other meat also, as well as plants.
Bird flu H5N1 virus spreads to humans through eating infected birds – does this indicate what foods are edible? Also, why do some people have deadly peanut allergy?
