Data storage
a) What types of market data do you normally store? –

b) In what form, do you store your data? –

c) Are you happy with the currently adopted storage? –
Storage is done at the corporate level. There isn’t a separate area or system for specific departments
Backup
a) Do you have a backup facility for your data? If yes, how does the data backup system work? – We use Commvault Simpana 10
b) How often you backup the data? –
Incremental daily, weekly full on a GFS rotation. This is for any data that is held with in the corporate file systems (ICT does not look after data stored on user devices like usb keys etc.)
c) Is the data backup reliable, that is, is there risk of losing data?
As reliable as it possibly can be.
d) How can your data backup be improved?
As with anything in the institution there is a program of continuous improvement. Details of which are not available to be shared at this stage.
e) What back up options do you use against virus attack, natural disasters etc.?
Virus are not a function of backups. They are a function of security systems. Back tapes are stored off site at a specialist storage facility.
Data access
a) Do you have security measures to deal with unauthorized access of your data? If any what are these measures? –
These are dealt with via the corporate ICT security policy and associated standards. These are available to staff on the staff intranet – infoweb
b) What criteria do you use to determine who should have access to your data? –
This is done via HR and the staff member’s job role and the department they work for.
