An incompressible fluid flows at a rate of 1800 litres per minute through a 0.3m diameter pipe. Further down stream the diameter reduces to 0.15m. Calculate the average velocity in the two sections of the pipe.

I know that Q=V.A where Q is the volume flow rate and V is the average velocity and A is area. The answers are 0.424m/s and 1.698m/s but I can’t seem to get the right answers.

2. Water flows steadily through a tank connected to three pipes. Pipe 1 has a diameter of 75mm and carries a flow in of 27L/s, pipe 2 has a diameter of 50mm and the flow out has a velocity of 9m/s. Calculate the mean velocity and volume flow rate in pipe 3 if its diameter is 25mm. The answer is 9.33L/s and 19.0m/s out.
