Appiah’s analysis

What roles do religions play in Appiah’s analysis? How is your approach similar to or different from his?

Step 1:
– Read the article thoroughly and be prepared to attend and participate in the in-class discussion.
– Bring the article, either printed out or electronically, to class on discussion day.
– You will be given questions to guide you through your analysis and discussion.
– Your analysis and essay should be informed and shaped by the following 2 questions:
What roles do religions play in Appiah’s analysis?
How is your approach similar to or different from his?
! Turn them in at the end of class to receive credit – I will hand them back to you in the following
class for you to use while writing your essay.
! The more you get involved in the class discussion and note down your opinions as well as
others the more material you will have to write your essay.

– Use the material gathered during class to write your essay.
! Your essay should be a detailed answer to the main 2 questions:
What roles do religions play in Appiah’s analysis?
How is your approach similar to or different from his?
! Your essay should be at least 5 pages and your argument should be supported with information
from class and/or textbook (cite accordingly).
! You should demonstrate that you have read and understood the article: you should provide
examples from it to answer the questions and illustrate your point, however, this should be done
within your analysis (do not simply do a summary of the article).
