Project description
This assignment tests your ability to apply microeconomic theory to real world economic phenomena. What you need to do:
Step 1. Select two appropriate articles from one of the following newspapers covering different topics.:
oKhaleej Times
oGulf News
oThe National
Step 2. Identify an appropriate microeconomic theory that can be used to explain the article.
Step 3. Summarize and analyze the article and explain the relevance and impact on the United Arab Emirates (or any other GCC) economy. Provide two separate short essays analyzing each one of the articles you chose.
Use appropriate diagrams . Draw your diagrams either in a respective software (windows Paint is an easy tool) or hand-draw on a sheet of paper and scan appropriately.
Use Harvard Referencing Style. Have at least 1 Journal Reference for each one of the articles you chose.
Step 4. Attach each article in an appendix.

Related to the choice of articles:
1.Form groups of two and choose two different articles from the sources suggested in your syllabus. Each article should be distinct.
2.Choose two articles which you think can be interpreted using economic theory. These articles can be about supply and demand, they can be about elasticities, they can be about taxation, about welfare changes etc. including topics we have not covered yet in class as we will have time to cover additional material before you have to submit.
3.Part of the grade for this project is related to the choice of articles and how well it can be interpreted using economic theory. Your grade however, does not depend on the topic at hand. You can choose ANY topic as long as it is relevant to economic theory.

Note: The articles MUST be from the mentioned newspapers.
