Aquinas' 5 ways,

Aquinas’ 5 ways,
700-1000 words (2-3 pgs).

For this paper you may pick any assigned reading that you have not yet written on. You will explain the main points of that reading, then write your own philosophical response. (You may also pick a topic that we discussed in class, but did not read for; however, if you do so, you need to get the topic approved before writing).

Your paper should have 3 sections (clearly label when each section begins in your paper):

Section 1, Intro (~ ¼ page): Brief summary of paper, and thesis statement. (In the intro, make sure to briefly and clearly state the main points you will address in paper; for example, could look something like “I will claim x, for reasons x, y, z”)

Section Two (1/2+ pg): Briefly, but clearly describe the key argument/s from the chosen reading.

Section Three (1-2 pgs): (Main section, spend most of paper on this). Give your response. Make sure you stay on topic. Some possibilities: you may critique the argument, defend the argument from possible objections, explain how you would change the theory, discuss the strengths and weaknesses, etc.

Inside this box I have the Fitbit One which replaces the Fitbit Ultra. Don’t be fooled by this gigantic and somewhat dangerous looking box. The Fitbit is tiny and you wear it on your body when you are exercising. Ok let’s get it out of here – wasteful packaging! So you may remember last year and I may have mentioned earlier when I tested this guy against the Nike fuel band? There were a few things that I didn’t love about it. One was its lack of wireless charging unless you were within a few feet (10 feet I think from the base). That is fixed in this version and also gets sweat proof and water proof protection which I think is a huge improvement, water resistant. It comes in black and burgundy, we got the black – it is small! At first flash it is very obviously smaller than the initial Fitbit. This guy just fits onto your clothes somewhere and you where it all the time, when you are walking, when we are working out, when you are sleeping. It’s pretty much a fitness data point. Not loving this packaging – nothing hip or cool about this plastic junk. It’s like a child’s toy. Here you have your guide to the Fitbit hieroglyphics. I feel  that these favourite things about it is that the feedback mechanism is completely baffling, you get a flower that grows the more activity you do and then look when you press these buttons you get a series of different numbers totally different from the other ones.

Inside the box is a sleep arm band, you just tuck this into the band and you wear it while you are sleeping and it can actually tell when you are in a deep sleep or not, when you are moving around. You can use it to get data about how well you sleep. That is a cool nerdy feature that a lot of people like and I personally think that sleep is a much overlooked component of your overall health. There is a new little case for it with a clip. That is probably why it is now water resistant because there is now a rubber case for it. There is a charging cable for the dock. This is much nicer and tidier and smaller than it used to be, it’s a small cable. There is no power adaptor in here so you will just have to plug it into your computer and charge that way. So let us get the actual Fitbit out. I was stalling because it appears to be attached by many many annoying little plastic things, not so bad. Fitbit – oh so tiny, see if it will come on. Man this is small, I know that is a plus in some ways but one of the things that happened a lot to me with the original Fitbit was that I left it places or lost it. It is a little more easier to keep track of when it is in this little thing here. There you go; it already wants to measure my steps. Look it’s taken 248 steps since it was born, it’s like a baby giraffe. Right lets go through the specs.

The specs on the Fitbit are pretty straight forward. I mentioned that it comes in two colours, black and burgundy, it has this OLED display, battery life is great, five – seven days before you have to charge this guy. You can get Fitbit software for both PC and MAC. When you sign up at Fitbit.com you can track your log your activity, your food, your sleep, your water intake, your body mass and your weight. When you push the button the front of the Fitbit you change the display, the cycle goes through steps, distance, calories burned, floor climbed (this is just an estimate) and of course the flower that grows or shrinks based on your activity. There is also a handy little clock. Wireless thinking with the Fitbit One has improved, there is also Bluetooth syncing with IOS or your computer. Unfortunately that is not yet available for Android. And like the Fitbit Ultra the Fitbit One automatically syncs whenever it is within 20 feet of its charger. So the Fitbit One costs $99, there is also a new version called Fitbit Zip which is a little cheaper, about $60. I would think you might want to look into that one rather as I am a little concerned about the size of this as I am a little concerned about the size of this and the fact that it comes with two separate pieces although look if you are into tracking every single element of your personal life, your activity, your workouts, your sleep, you are never going to get more fun data for it than with the Fitbit One. I also like the fact that it does wirelessly sync over Bluetooth and it is available for IOS and Android which Nike fuel band cannot say. I don’t know – Fitbit has its fans, I want to love it but it’s just not my favourite.
