Arabic Calligraphy and Identity

1- Concept
Identity Crisis or identity loss through spreading english usage at expense of Arabic
– The relationship between calligraphy and identity
– Human & Calligraphy & history
– Some statistics, facts.
– How English and globalization affects Arabic spread

2- project importance
Warning of regression of Arabic Calligraphy usage which will lead to obliterate next Arab’s generations identity.
Highlight the aesthetic and the importance of calligraphy/ Dynamic and harmonic
– Calligraphy is not only one of Arabia’s most traditional arts, it also has a positive effect on our physical, mental and brain health
E.g. Positive cognitive effects:
Calligraphy can help to strengthen the attention span and judgement on speed and accuracy
– help delay the degeneration of cognitive abilities such as short-term memory, word processing and physical co-ordination.

3- technique
– Expression by color, line, movement to create an energetic image that confirms feeling of dissatisfaction with the sad situation of Arabic Calligraphy. – Invest negative spaces in artwork to show the flexibility of Arabic letter. – Usage different sizes of canvases
