Assess the role of Emerging Powers in Global Economy. Discuss with reference to the activities of two of these countries.

Here, the class will interrogate the influence of these countries on global economy. It will look at how the emerging powers have used their economic advantage to influence events in developed and developing countries. Also to be analysed in the lecture is the role of these
countries in the activities of key financial institutions like the IMF and the World Bank and
the role the countries have played in the various economic links they have developed with developing and developed countries. The class will also interrogate the allegation that some of the activities of these countries are not above board, especially around issues like labour relations and Corporate Social Responsibility. Finally, the class discusses the link that has been established between economic dominance and political dominance of world affairs by the emerging powers. The class will also discuss how economic might has translated into political might and how this might has been used.
