n 2 pages, write about Julia Alvarez’s book YO! and talk about the gender roles and immmigration presented in the book. and how does that tie in with Julia Alvarez real life and her character Yolanda(which is supppose to represent Julia in the story)

These types of gender roles are very present in Julia Alvarez’s book ¡Yo! that explores how immigrants search for identity and a place in the world. Yolanda has been faced with many challenges as a Latin American, gender roles being a major one, she has experienced gender roles as a writer, within her family, as a Dominican, and as an American.

Most important aspect on this paper is to tie Julia Alvarez and Yolanda together with gender role and being a immigrant.
