Task Description
Identify the business problem and major stakeholders; define the confirmed requirements for the designated case study.

Case Study
The introduction of alternative teaching models such as three annual trimesters or six 6-week study periods at Griffith University, supported by mobile learning.

Instructions:
The business analysis case study should be investigated considering at most two aspects from below:

1.    Local student enrolments and the impact of the new demand driven funding model

2.    International competition for overseas students

3.    Distance education

4.    Administration costs

5.    Student engagement

6.    Academic staff engagement

7.Intellectual property

8 Accademic integrity and misconduct

The impact of new technologies and trends such as BYOD, mobile technologies and cloud computing should be taken into account where relevant.

You need to choose only one of the following IS Perspectives and discuss it in the context of the chosen aspect above:

You need to clearly state which aspect/s and IS perspective you have chosen.

The report should demonstrate your mastery of ‘underlying competencies’ as indicated in BABOK, section 1.7 and chapter 8. The report should be based primarily on BABOK v2, the required readings and lecture slides. Please clearly distinguish between your work and that of your sources. All sources of business, background and contextual information should be carefully cited and listed, using APA or Harvard guidelines. Always indicate the page number(s) in the source you refer to. Direct quotes should be shown by quotation marks, should not be extensively used and will not be included in the word count.

Assignment Format:
*Title page: Student name, student number, degree, course code and title, assignment title, business problem, perspective, word count, due date
*Cover letter (not more than one page); this briefly indicates the purpose of the report, significant findings and limitations. Address the letter to your tutor. Examples of cover letters on the web.
*Executive summary (not more than one page). The summary should be able to be read instead of the report. It should focus on the main findings and limitations.
*Table of Contents. Should list the main headings and subheadings of the report, and the appendices (and titles of appendices), with correct page numbers.
*List of Illustrations. Tables and Figures with correct page numbers.

Assignment Structure:
1. Introduction (max 150 words – 0.5 marks)
*Identify the general business problem addressed by the assignment
*Identify the specific Information Systems perspective adopted for the assignment
*Identify and briefly describe any issues (such as inability to access information) which may have    affected the compilation of the report.

2. Identification of the Business Problem and Need (8 Marks)
*Correct application of concepts from chapters 3 (Elicitation) and 5 (Enterprise Analysis) of BABOK: Business goals and objectives, business problem and opportunity, desired outcome (5.1.4.1-5.1.4.3). How was the problem generated (5.1.2, p.83)? etc.
*Select and use appropriate techniques from BABOK (5.1.5), BAT book (justify selection) such as SWOT, PEST(LE), Porter’s.
*Show analysis in appropriate diagram/s or table/s.

3. Stakeholder Analysis (9 Marks)
*Correct application of concepts from  section 2.2 (Stakeholder Analysis) of BABOK. Cover identification, complexity of stakeholder group, attitude and influence of stakeholders (2.2.41-2.2.4.3), stakeholder details, (2.2.7, best in an appendix) etc.
*Provide at least one diagram to represent relations between stakeholders and their attributes (BABOK 2.2.5 Stakeholder maps, p.29, best in an appendix)
*Select and use appropriate techniques from BABOK (2.2.5) and BAT book (justify selection) including document analysis, brainstorming, interviewing

4. Approach to Requirements Management (max 200 words – 1 mark)
*Discuss Requirements Management (BABOK Ch. 4) relating to the Business Analysis Planning Approach (2.1).
*Select and use appropriate techniques from BABOK and BAT book (justify selection).

5. Solution Scope and Business Case (5 Marks)
*Define the solution scope and how it addresses the stakeholder requirements (BABOK 5.4.4.1)
*Discuss briefly potential benefits and risks results management (BABOK 5.5.4.1, 5.5.4.3, 5.5.4.4)
*Select and use appropriate techniques from BABOK and BAT book (justify selection).

6. Requirements analysis (11 Marks)
*Business requirements – Based on your discussion in the previous section, state and prioritize at least four of the major business requirements (BABOK p.5 and 6.1). List the requirements in order of priority and discuss briefly the basis for prioritization. Select appropriate technique/s.
*Stakeholder requirement – In relation to the first priority business requirement, identify and state two requirements for a stakeholder or group of stakeholders (BABOK p.5 and 3.3.7)
*Functional requirement – Describe two functional requirements (BABOK p.6) of a solution which will meet the two stakeholder requirements indicated above. The descriptions should be in the format of fully developed Use Case descriptions. (BABOK 9.26, SAD Book Ch. 5)
*Non-functional requirements. State relevant non-functional requirements (BABOK p.6 and 9.17) Select and use appropriate techniques from BABOK and BAT book (justify selection).

Note: the statements of business and stakeholder requirements should be made in natural language.

7. Conclusion (max 100 words – 0.5 Marks)
Summarize the most important points from your report, referring to the relevant sections. Do not include new information.

Appendix/ces
May include: Glossary of technical terms (other than provided in BABOK), list of acronyms, diagrams and tables referred to more than once in the report, summaries of the interviews, other information required to understand the findings.
