Write a college level paper that addresses the topics presented in Best. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate you understand what you read in Joel Best’s book and apply those skills to research. You must support your opinions/thoughts with material from Best. Merely stating your opinion without regard to Best’s work will earn a failing grade. First, please summarize the key points of Best’s book. What are the most important aspects of his book? Next, using the material from Best’s book, what is your opinion on whether the statement "every three seconds a woman is raped" is a good, bad or combination of good and bad statistic? Back up your opinion based on material presented in Best. And finally, find and share two examples of bad statistics you have encountered. Describe these two bad statistics and outline why they are bad. Again, you must use material from Best to support your thoughts. The book is : Damned Lies and Statistics( Untangling numbers from the media, politicians, and activists ) by Joel Best and it’s the updated edition.
