On a Wednesday night on the other side of the bridge at the Videology center on Bedford Avenue you can find an interesting Bingo night. Under dark lights and theme song “bad reputation” playing on the background while surrounded by movies and nerds. Everybody seems exited and ready to start playing. They are all drinking their beer and eating their nachos.

This isn’t you grandma’s bingo where everybody is over 60’s. This is a TV themed bingo night. Where you can laugh along to cult favorites of the TV show “Freaks and Geeks”. The game is played while the episode is on. Every time someone says “ Homework” or makes a Star Wars reference they put their chips down. If you have a quote in your card or a person from the TV show that matches with what is happening on the episode you are getting closer to yelling bingo. To win fans favorites spiked milk Cartons, Rice Krispie Treats or Pudding.
The people are all fanatics of the show, wearing glasses and hipsters clothes. They are all around there 30’s. The Freaks and Geeks show run was very short it only lasted 18 episodes. One of their fanatics, Olivia Tane, 29, said it was too authentic for prime time, “ There was an episode about Ken’s girlfriend when she reveals she was born with ambiguous genitalia for God sakes.” Whatever it seemed to be the reason for cancellation it has brought us to bingo nights. People are laughing every five seconds while they fill their boards and watch the transfer student try to fit in.

Alison Pruzan a waitress at the Videology center is in charged to give the prizes to the people who win, “ It is really shocking too see how much people love this show when it only lasted a season, they can’t get enough of it ” she said. The show may not have lasted much but it helped launch the career of very famous actors among them is James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Judd Apatow and many others.

“This show was so good because it portrayed the real truth about high school when other popular shows at the time, the Beverly Hills 90210s and Dawson’s Creeks, where so glamorous or serious,” said Sammie Levin, fan of the show.
Julie Kutchin organizer of bingo night and also fan of the show, said that this show left a legacy. There are many shows that leave a presence in each person, “ The fans of Freaks and Geeks still remember how Bill dressed up as the Bionic Woman or the time Sam accidentally streaked.”
Not only was the people impacted and angry when this show got cancelled but there where also actors not satisfied with the decision. The actor Seth Rogen twitted, “Last night I was in a room with the dude who cancelled Freaks and Geeks. And yes, I did totally call him out on it.”
Garth Ancier, television programmer, was the one who cancelled the show and he posted on his Facebook page, “This was an awful decision that has haunted me forever.”
The people who never forgot about the show keep creating new ideas to have their ” Freaks and Geeks” in their lives. Bingo night will only last until April 16th. It is located on 308 Bedford Avenue?Brooklyn. It begins at 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
