1. Identify and analyse a relevant business, e-business, management or public administration case or problem for business intelligence (BI) applications. Your problem or case should be analysed and discussed with references to theoretical, practical and empirical material. The background contexts, characteristics, issues and scope of the problem and the needs for applying BI should be explicitly identified and described.

2. Propose and justify the use of frameworks, models and methods of general business intelligence, data warehousing, text mining, and/or data mining for dealing with the problem identified. The theoretical rationale, procedures, processes, and supporting techniques and technologies should be well presented and argued, with evidence of using properly acknowledged sources and referring to appropriate theory, research and practice. Critical review and synthesis of the literature, in-depth analysis of findings, and logical reasoning should be made.

3. Choose and justify your selection of relevant software tools for dealing with the case or problem. You should provide reasons for your choice and analyse the potential benefits of your business intelligence solution and the applications of the recommended software tools. Your arguments should be supported by references to relevant concepts, theories, techniques, technologies, software packages, and cases or examples in the literature.
