Amongst the highly acknowledged studies or researches ever done in the field of psychology is the Why we don’t help others: Bystander Apathy which was inspired by the highly publicized murder of Kitty Genovese in 1964 and was investigated by John Darley and Bibb Latane. The participants who undertook the study were invited in the lab under the pretex and were supposed to participate in an open discussion based on personal problems. This included participants talking or socializing to several others who were strangers to them and this varied from one to four in each experiment trials.
