look at two essays on the subject of artificial intelligence both of which attempt to address the question, ?Can Machines Think?? Alan Turing says yes, while John Searle says no. You are to choose one of these essays to discuss in more depth.
paper should aim to do three main things:
(1) Provide an accurate description of what exactly the position is;
(2) Summarize correctly the main arguments for that position;
(3) raise one philosophically interesting comment or question about a specific argument or objection raised in the essay. You will need to develop this question in a single paragraph and show how the question relates to the overall essay topic.
The question you raise should engage with a specific argument discussed in the essay instead of posing a general question about the topic.

For example, you might say, ?One criticism Turing addresses in his paper he calls the ?Objection from Various Disabilities?. This criticism identifies some action ? like having a conversation ? that humans can do, and then goes on to claim that machines are incapable of performing that action. To this, Turing replies that we should simply wait and see; technology will eventually advance far enough to one day perform the action in question. My question however is whether this is a good enough response. Although over 60 years have passed since the publication of Turing?s paper, and despite the fact that technology has mad many advances since then, it seems that machines still fall short of the conversational abilities of human beings.?
