Pick a topic

(1) Discuss the characterizations of and the similarities and differences between the following pairs of pilgrims: the Parson and the Plowman; the Physician and the Pardoner; the Franklin and the Reeve.

(2) Identify yourself with any one of the pilgrims and write, as he/she would have written, a letter home, in which you describe your impressions of “your” travel companions. Please remember that the narrative of your letter should be circumscribed by the description of the character you have chosen to impersonate. What matters is the skill with which you handle the point of view that your chosen character embodies.
