Cenlow Limited: Relocation
Cenlow Limited manufactures instant coffee and is considering launching the product in an improved pack that is lighter and cheaper to produce than the current glass

jars. The company is based in Sheffield and has been operating successfully for the past two years, but has faced increased competition. The company’s products are

well accepted in the market and business is starting to pick up over the past 18 months.  The change in product, if launched, will have an impact on the financial

capability of the company and its production line.  The Owner and CEO, Mark Fletcher, is also considering launching the improved product and packaging internationally

with a view to expanding the product range in the future, however he is concerned that the market may already be saturated.
In addition the Board of Directors are considering opening new offices in London in order to assist them launch their new product and expand their product range

internationally as this is where they feel that the main buyers are located.  In order to do this they would need to send 10 of their existing staff to set up the new

office and network with suppliers and buyers in the capital.  They have identified a building in Westfield Avenue, Stratford in the heart of London which they feel is

suitable however before they sign the contract they want you, as HR Manager, to undertake the following assessment and produce a plan for them.   They are looking to

relocate staff within the next 3-6 months and want to retain the existing ergonomics of the current office into the new location.

Tasks:

1.    Identify all of the tasks/elements of the relocation
2.    Produce a schedule for all 10 staff approached to relocate
3.    Identify and analyse real and potential costs that may be incurred
4.    Identify and analyse any potential HR issues that are likely to arise
5.    List any assumptions you would have to make.

Individually, you are to produce a word processed report (3,000 words) detailing a relocation plan.  This report should also include relevant aspects of project

management, decision making, team building and communications at Cenlow Limited.
The deadline for this assignment is 8th December 2014.  An electronic copy should be posted on Moodle via the Cenlow Limited Case Study link by 23:55.
