Description:
1)How does social criticism work in the scandinavian crime novels we have read in class? Drawing on examples from at least two of the novels discussed, make an argument about how the novels convey social criticism.

2) How is setting used in the Scandinavian crime novels we have read? Are there patterns in the description of the setting? Can you divide the novels up by the way they depict setting? Your answer must develop an argument about how setting is used in the Scandinavian crime novels read in class.

3) There are many women investigators in the novels we have read: Nina Borg, Lisbeth Salander, Hanne Wilhelmsen. How is gender a part of characterization of investigators in the Scandinavian crime fiction, and the novels’ ostensibly socially critical intentions?
