The purpose of the project is for students to demonstrate a deeper understanding of topics explored during the semester. This project may take the form of:
•  a traditional research paper (written in MLA or APA style; must be research driven with assertions backed by cited material/not opinion or reflection paper style) •  a creative writing assignment (a short story with characters, dialogue and plot or poetic verse demonstrating research/knowledge of topic)  •  an original multimedia (Web or video) piece created for this assignment; your name/class must appear in credits or somehow be included in piece

A powerpoint presentation alone does not meet the requirements of this project.
Regardless of which type of project you choose, you must include a bibliography of at least four sources (not including your textbook) that you used while researching your topic.
In addition to the finished written or multimedia component (80 points), students will present their projects to the class (20 points). The purpose to the presentation is to help students become more familiar with delivering an informative presentation and to share what they have learned with their classmates. PowerPoint may be used as part of the presentation, but alone does not meet the requirements of this assignment.

Paper or Project (80 points)
Written: 4-6 pages (plus bibliography) or Multimedia: 5 minute video or 5-page website (plus a bibliography)   Criteria:  Meets page length (8.5 x 11, Typed 1.5 line or 2.0 spaced, 1-inch margins, 12 pt font) or timing/content requirements

STRUCTURE: coherent and logical organization allows writer to convey ideas clearly; form reflects disciplinary conventions

SUBSTANTIATION: solid reasoning and valid evidence supports assertions; sources are documented in
accordance with disciplinary conventions

LANGUAGE: controlled, readable, clear, proofread, and suitable for the discipline
