Prevalence and incidence rates for diseases or health conditions allow us to make comparisons between communities. Rates of
activities such as smoking and physical activity allow us to make comparisons between communities regarding other areas of health promotion. Community is defined as a group of people who live in the same geographical area, or have a common background, or a common interest.
Write a 3-5 page paper in APA format by answering the Learning Activity question #3, page 65 of the course textbook. Include at least two additional scholarly references in addition to the textbook to support your work. Use the text on the rubric that is in bold font as the section headers for your paper. Using section headers will remind you to include all of the required competencies for this assignment. Consider the following as you prepare this assignment:
- Identify a community of which you are a member (e.g. your state, your county, your age group, or your school).
- Choose a health promotion topic that impacts your selected community such as teen STDs, obesity, physical activity, or smoking.
- How does your community compare with a similar community in a different area of the state or the country?
- How does your community compare with a similar community in another part of the world?
