Comparison of theorists; Alex de Tocqueville and Adam Smith OR Karl Marx on their view of Government.
Order Description
Adam Smith, Karl Marx, and Alex de Tocqueville (All sociological theorists) walk into a restaurant in the late evening of October 27, 2014 (voting day) to talk about
the Toronto municipal elections. These three thinkers each have different ideas, and want to share some nachos and talk about the importance of government, as well as
the kinds of changes that need to take place in order to improve social outcomes.
Your job is to explain de Tocqueville’s perspective on the role of government in dialogue with EITHER Smith’s or Marx’s perspective. How would de Tocqueville and Smith
OR Marx explain the importance of government? What needs to be changed and how so? Who has the stronger argument? Why?
This essay should demonstrate your knowledge of de Tocqueville’s and either Smith’s or Marx’s general perspective, as well as the concepts and finer details that
inform their perspectives.
