For ages it seems man has been trying to find a way to stay alive forever or at least a very long time. When it comes to life and death and our ever seeking and expanding knowledge on the subjects there are some dangerous implications to consider and keep in mind. With our advancing technology and medical findings humans are living longer and we seem to get closer and closer to some kind of immortality, or at least as close as we can. While finding cures and ways to prevent so many causes of death and fatal aliments may be very welcomed and great, and getting that extra time in life to spend with loved ones and do all the things you ever dreamed of sounds wonderful there are many things and dangers to consider.

Becoming immortal or living for a very extended period of time does cause some issues and concerns to think about. If we keep living longer and longer and reproducing and using up so many resources we will eventually run out of space and resources all together. We would have to consider new and quicker ways to sustain our growing and ever living population. We would need to think about the space and if or how we are going to work with what we have here on Earth or consider developing other planets that might sustain life for us. Or we might even have to consider limitations on reproducing altogether on how many children a family could have and how often this might be happening.

The society as a whole and our economy would be effected. We would be working longer into our lives and would need to consider new times for retirement age. We will have to become more efficient and resourceful. There would have to be planning all around for our working lives, love lives and families and resources. We would have to consider even more and think more about the society as a whole rather than our own wants and personal needs. It is hard to say that just because we would be living longer that we would get better as a society and become more selfless and cooperative with each other even with more intellect.

It is not that these things are impossible, it is more like improbable with human nature. We could have all this time to prosper and grow or more time to fight and compete until nothing is left. If we were to have the time would we grow as people into something more unified? It is hard to say. It is nice to think that we could and think of all the possibilities and all that we could see and learn in our everlasting lives. The danger though is taking that risk, and watching us all destroy what we have worked so hard for and to help protect. While we may abolish cancer and brain disorders and every medical aliment known, will we be able to save ourselves from ourselves? Will we be able to save our own planet for the better for ourselves? Should there be a limit on life and how do we decided when enough is enough?
