Identify and discuss the major changes taking place in the external and internal environment of an organisation, or a section of an organisation, with which you are

familiar. Explain how each of these changes is impacting on power relationships and the management of people within that organisation.
Your assignment should discuss, but not necessarily be confined to, issues emerging from the following topics that are discussed in Topics 1–5 of the Study Guide:

1. labour force trends
2. developments in employment law
3. workplace communication
4. technological changes
5. the employment relationship.

This assignment is designed to give you the opportunity to apply some of the issues raised in Topics 1–5 of the Study Guide to the changing workplace. You can choose

your own workplace or another if you are not currently working. You can also choose to examine a department or section of a large organisation if that would be more

manageable.
The concept of the external and internal environment of an organisation, the changes taking place in these environments and their implications for the management of

people.
You are expected to describe:
• the changes taking place in the organisation
• the reasons for their changes
• their consequences in terms of power relationships and the management of people in the organisation.
Some evaluation of how these changes are being managed would also be useful.
