Contract

Linda Grump is an ornery, reclusive, 80-year-old old maid. She owns a successful cattle and ilama ranch in Palisades, Colorado. Six months ago, she fell off her favorite horse, resulting in fractures to both her legs. She has recovered sufficiently to perambulate with the aid of a walker. Linda now realizes that she is no longer physically capable to manage her ranch, but she trust no one. Reluctantly, she contacts Monty Samaritan, her nephew and only living relative, to determine whether he would consider permanently relocating from Fairbanks, Alaska to Palisades to manage the ranch. She has told Monty that if he will relocate, she will take care of him and remember him in his will.

Monty has enjoyed a good life in Alaska. He has been attending graduate school for a Master of Science degree in Artic Engineering and he has a wide circle of friends. Monty is truly concerned about his aunt. He would consider the move, but he realizes that he would have to give up the “good life” in exchange for his aunts vague promises. He is concerned about his moving expenses, completion of his education, compensation for managing the ranch and household, and what will ultimately happen to the ranch when his aunt dies.

Write a paper that addresses Monty’s expressed concerns and any other points that he may not have considered. Then, second, address Linda Grump’s concern, as well as anything she failed to think about. Make sure that you talk about the essential elements of a valid contract.
