Critical & analytical evaluation report.

Critical & analytical evaluation report.

DETAILS OF THE ASSESSMENT
The aim of this assessment is to apply the knowledge gained during the module in a practical context. Your work should demonstrate a critical application of the research skills and methods required in order to complete a research project. It should demonstrate how you have applied the knowledge acquired in the Research Practice sessions and in your own academic reading to the skills and tools required for a successful research project.
You will be provided with a project proposal in Week 1 of the Research Practice sessions (also uploaded to the module VLE) – the assessment is based on this proposal in addition to your own academic reading. Support sessions with Q&A will be provided during the Research Practice Module as indicated in the Module Timetable.
This work will be assessed by your RP tutor. See the grid below for the marking criteria.

Details of Report Elements:
The report should be structured using the following headings; sub-headings can be used at your own discretion:

Section A: Critical Thinking
Write a critique of the proposal based on information gained from the ‘Critical reading, writing & thinking’ session in addition to your own academic reading. You should aim to discuss the strengths and limitations of the proposal, suggesting how any limitations could be improved. Look in detail at the proposed aims, objectives and methodology.
(This section should be approximately 400 words)

Section B: Ethical Considerations
Write a discussion on the ethical considerations of the proposal based on information from the ‘Research Ethics’ session in addition to your own academic reading. You should aim to cover all of the ethical implications of the proposed project.
(This section should be approximately 200 words)

Section C: Interview Method
Write a list (maximum 10) of possible interview questions based on the project proposal provided. Include a discussion on the justification for the questions asked, and considerations of how the data could be analysed.
(This section should be approximately 400 words)

Section D: Questionnaire Method
Use SurveyMonkey (www.surveymonkey.com) – sign up for the FREE account – to create a 10 item questionnaire based on the project proposal provided. In the written report you should include justification for each item asked, and the way in which they have been structured (i.e. why did you choose that particular item type). Include considerations of how the data could be analysed once collected.
(This section should be approximately 400 words)
Please ensure that you send the SurveyMonkey link to the Module Leader before the deadline date of submission, or include a web link in the assessment report.

Section E: Document Review
You will be provided with a document which relates to the project proposal in the Research Practice session in Week 1 (also uploaded to the module VLE). You must apply the knowledge received from the ‘Document Review’ session and your own academic reading to analyse the document provided.
(This section should be approximately 300 words)

PLEASE COMPLETE EITHER THE EVALUATION SECTION OR THE DIARY SECTION; DO NOT DO BOTH! IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING DOING A PRODUCT BASED DISSERTATION THEN YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO DO THE EVALUATION SECTION.

Section F: Evaluation
Using the project proposal you should propose a product that could be designed to meet the final objective of the project and detail how and when you would evaluate the product. You should use knowledge gained from the ‘Artefact Production’ session and your own academic reading to help you to write this element of the assessment.
(This section should be approximately 300 words)

Section F: Diary
Propose how a diary could be used to collect data for the project proposal. Include how it could link to the project, if it would replace or add to the already proposed methods and include a discussion on the strengths and limitations of the method and how any limitations could be reduced. You should use knowledge gained from the ‘Research Diaries’ session and your own academic reading to help you write this element of the report.
(This section should be approximately 300 words)

Section G: References
You should ensure that each section demonstrates your academic reading by citing sources appropriately. You should include all references cited in the report, in full, in Harvard style.

The final submission should consist of:
• The written report (total 2,000 words); in WORD document only, submitted to Turnitin on the module VLE
• A SurveyMonkey link (either pasted into the assessment report or e-mailed to the Module Leader)
