1. Demonstrate a comprehensive and critical understanding of EU and UK waste legislation, together with the powers and duties of the enforcement agencies.

2. Critically assess the nature and issues within the waste sectors including construction and demolition, agricultural, commercial and household waste, together with an understanding of treatment and disposal routes.

Critically assess the current situation within this sector in relation to the EU and UK legislation demonstrating you knowledge and ability to apply the legislation in relation to the sectors using up to date journals and legislative websites throughout your essay.

Critically assess the situation in relation to the powers and duties of the enforcement agencies, using a wide range of current journals articles throughout your essay to support the points, which you are making.

Demonstrate your ability to critical evaluate and bring original thought in relation to the issues within the sector through your choice and use of journal articles to support the points which you are making.

Critically assess the viability of the disposal routes through your knowledge of the legislation and the literature review, which you have conducted.

Make sure that your work is using correct English spelling with sentences which are logical and is grammatically and referenced correctly

Word Limit: 2,000 word essay.

 

 

 

Assessment Criteria:                     A rubric is provided which will be used to mark your work.

 

 

Referencing:       You must:

• Provide literature based evidence from journals not just webpages (never Wikipedia) in support of the points / arguments you make.
• Ensure the work of others is correctly and appropriately referenced / cited using the Harvard System. Failure to acknowledge sources at all / or appropriately in the text or reference list could be viewed as plagiarism. Ensure you fully understand how to use the Harvard system for citing and quoting the work of others. If unsure, ask or review the Harvard guide on Course Resources.

 

Level Specific Terminology: Note this is a level 7 piece of work and you are expected to be writing at this level, which means that you are bringing in critical appraisal and original thought on the subject.

 

Spelling etc: A vital skill for any graduate particularly when jobs are harder to get. Therefore note that an equal weighting is given to spelling, grammar, punctuation and referencing.

 

 

Generic Assessment Criteria

• Your assignment should have a front ‘cover’ page which simply states the module & assessment title and your student number.
• Work should be word processed.
• Font size should be at least 12.
• Line spacing should be at least 1.5.
• All pages should be numbered.
• The assessment should have a reference list at the end, formatted according to the Harvard System.
