Critical reflection on campaign work

Critical reflection on campaign work

Project description
Assessment 3: Critical reflection on campaign work

(Please note this comes before assessment 2: Critical Commentary which will be the final assessment we do).

Overview

In this assessment you will produce a 5-minute single-shot discursive solo video that reflects on the entire campaign process covering weeks 7 through 18. You will also need to produce a document of supporting evidence.

Assessment Criteria:

This work should demonstrate:

Research into, and understanding of, the campaign and its issues, drawing critically on appropriate resources;
Reflection on if and how learning, personal and professional development has occurred through the project;
Discussion of and constructive reflection on group work;
Thought and effort have gone into communicating complex issues to a wider audience;
Clarity of communication;
It is supported by appropriate evidence.

Making Your Video

You can use your camera phone, another personal video camera or take out a camera from the media loan store or the library loan store.

You should set up the camera in a stable manner using a tripod or even just balancing it on a pile of books. Make sure you are suitably lit, try different arrangements until you are happy with the result.

The film should be one continuous 5 minute shot. You may want to make some notes for yourself on index cards or post-it notes, but please do not just read out a pre-written script. You can make reference to evidence, newspaper articles, your set reading or academic books and articles that are relevant. You can also use props where appropriate but make sure they are clear to see on camera.

We are not expecting the videos to be slick. They should be honest though. Dont worry about ums or pauses, worry about honestly reflecting on the process. We are looking for integrity and genuine reflection on the process of learning more than anything else.

Compiling your portfolio of evidence document

Your portfolio document should have a cover page which includes:

1.Your name and student number
2.The module code and title
3.Your seminar group and campaign
4.Your vimeo URL and password to the video

The second page should your 1 page overview of whats included in the document. This should explain the chosen items of evidence and how they relate to your Vimeo reflection. Your tutor should be able to clearly link each item to the points you are making, make sure effectively label each item in the text.

The following pages should have clearly labeled items including:

-supporting video evidence
-screenshots of presentations/other supporting documents
-photographs
-any relevant press or weblinks
-copies of any publicity materials
-screenshots of any relevant blog posts you have made

To take screenshots either use the print screen button on your computer or if there isnt one google how do I take a screen shot on xxxxx where xxxxx is the name of the device or computer you are using.

You should be able to save these screenshots in jpeg format and insert them into whichever word processor you are using. If you cannot work out how to do that simply google: How do I insert an image into xxxxx where xxxxx is the name of your word processor.

Submission Instructions:

-A single word document containing the following:
oThe URL and password to your reflection video on vimeo.com
oA one page 11 point font, line and a half or double spaced text (maximum) summary explaining the evidence contained in the rest of the document
oA portfolio of evidence with each item clearly labelled
-Upload the document to Turn-It-In as a standard word document.
