The purpose of this assignment is to explore in detail two of the English language teaching methodologies commonly adopted in language teaching. The essay should outline which teaching methodologies are popular in recent times and discuss, in depth, two of these.
Consider the following: What is a teaching methodology? What is the range of methodologies available in the field of ELT? How have these changed/developed in recent times? Take two recent and commonly adopted methods and discuss in detail the principles behind these. Comment on the implications of each of these for teaching – how the method works; the expectations of the tutor and the learners; the emphasis and expectations in the classroom; practical use in the classroom; materials and interaction types used; the cultural context in which the method might be best used; any difficulties they might pose for teacher or learner.
This is not a comparison/contrast of two methodologies, but you may like to organise your essay as such.
