As defined in Chapter 2, culture refers to the language, beliefs, values, norms, behaviors, and even material objects that are passed from one generation to the next. As we live in this society, our personality, attitude, belief, behavior, and life choice must have been shaped by our culture. How do you think your culture has made you who you are?
Please write an essay (about 300 words) discussing how you have been socialized by your own culture (e.g., how do you think your life has been affected by the food you eat, the language you speak, the norms you follow, etc). Try to use at least TWO of the following concepts in your essay: material culture, nonmaterial culture, culture shock, ethnocentrism, cultural relativism, cultural diversity, subculture, counterculture, cultural lag, cultural diffusion, cultural leveling, symbol, language, gesture, value, norm, sanction, folkway, mores, and taboo.
