Each student will complete a final paper. The subject of this paper should be data mining, predictive modeling and should include a Classification And Regression Tree (CART) of information on Sickle Cell Anemia. a critical analysis of a published research article, or a critical discussion of a healthcare information related problem that the student has experienced as well as how they resolved the problem or how it was resolved within the context of the problem.
Your independent study paper should include (but not be limited to) the following (with allowances for your particular topic):
Background information about the particular problem/application/ implementation
Why is this topic important?
What are the specific elements which make up your use of healthcare information systems/application?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of your particular solution?
How does your particular solution fit within the healthcare organization?
How does your particular solution/application fit within the healthcare organization?
The paper submitted must be in APA format, at least 10 pages in length, not including references and contain a cover page. Papers should be double spaced with “1” margins. References must be included and should not be solely from internet/online sources. Grading criteria for paper:
Introduction to topic:20 points
Relevance of the topic to the course20 points
Adequate coverage of topic20 points
Conclusive statements20 points
