I need help taking information from a database book, Concepts of Database Management 7th Edition, specifically from Appendix A, and changing key aspects of the database to reflect these changes. For example I might need to change the database design so that each department of a school needs to change it’s database to allow only one type of major to be offered from each department. There are 4 specfic changes that need to be incorporated and that includes going through the normiliztion process 1-4, and declaring all dependencies throughout the procees, as weel as creating an ER diagram of each change made. Bellow is the assaignment and attached should be a PDF of the appendix A with the information and examples.
Appendix A Marvel College Example:
Study the descriptions and discussions in Appendix A of this case study. The questions that need to be submitted for this assignment are similar to the ones in Appendix A.
Use the information and design of the Marvel College database as discussed in Appendix A of the PDF and use that information to discuss the impact the following changes have on the design for the Marvel College database. Assume all changes are independent of each other so you do not have to carry changes from one question to the next question.
For ALL problems, go through the process of normalizing any resulting tables and then show them in DBDL (new or changed tables). Also update the final cumulative design (Figure A-17) with the new structure and dependencies. Include ALL tables from the Database in the ER diagram for each question (simple boxes as we did in the last two chapter 6 assignments. Put the changed tables in a different box / connecting line color.
Follow the rubric bellow to adjust the database to fit the following conditions:
1. More than one instructor might teach a given section of a course, and each instructor must be listed on the time schedule
2. Each Department offers only a single major
3. On the registration request form, a student may designate any number of alternates along with his or her primary choice. These alternates are listed in priority order, with the first one being the most desired and the last one being the least desired.
4. The College wants to expand the database to cover the different dates and times for final exams. There will be several groups/blocks for each semester identified by a TestGroupID that sections will be assigned to. Each TestGroup will be assigned a Date and Time for the final exams. All sections assigned to a specific TestGroupID will have the exam on the same Date and Time.
