De Beauvoir and Sartre
Order Description
De Beauvoir is an existentialist philosopher. What is the philosophical basis of existentialism that informs her critique (Refer to Sartre)? Discuss how De Beauvoir uses this philosophical approach to determine the proper criteria for judging the justness of her society’s values, mores, and ethics? (Discuss pp. 34 and 35 of the Introduction for this last question.) Explain how this criterion might help in assessing how institutions limit humans. They are only teaching humans what they want to teach. This in turn limits humans from learning other things, and how does that place women at a disadvantage to men.
To respond to this assignment adequately it must have at least 1 quote each from De Beauvoir and Sartre.
