– On the accompanying attachment you will find a casting of the carved decorative motifs from a colonial era gravemarker. There are other things on that marker,

including names, dates, and epitaph, not included herein. Gravemarkers mean nothing to the departed, they are dead. The gravemarkers, however, often do contain

messages for the living. Decode the various elements of this gravemarker. Those elements contain messages based on form, relationships to other elements, position, and
