Larger goal: You will read your primary text through the “lens” of an idea from an ancillary text, in order to deepen your representation of the primary text problem. Looking at one text “through” another may offer fresh insight into the problem, suggesting ways to think about ideas or arguments that connect or complicate the two essays.

how you’re going to do it: take the idea from the ancillary texts; represent it in a paragraph or two. Then using Key Terms from your primary text that pertain to your D1 representation, juxtapose the ancillary text idea with your primary text. Identify the facts this juxtaposition adds to the problem in the primary text. format according to MLA guidelines.
