Design of Reinforced Concrete and a structure

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

Critical appraisal report of performance of the client’s structure

The content of a critical appraisal is personal to the writer and cannot be prescribed, but normally one would expect to see the parameters that affected design decisions being reconsidered. Alongside technical considerations, the influence of the human structure within which you were working could be discussed. You could approach it as a thoughtful illustrated reflection on a recent experience from one engineer to another. The critical appraisal should be a stand-alone document that does not make reference to any other work.

Whilst the group report is a mainly factual account of the progress of the week up to the end of casting, it is the individually written critical appraisal that records the final result and forms a reflective commentary on the week. So should it have any calculations in it? If relevant to the development of an argument, then supporting calculations would clearly be meaningful and worthwhile. This is expected to be the usual case. Conversely, if all it contained were calculations, then it would be missing the interpretation of those calculations. If you had an apparent success, then you could revisit the question of whether you achieved this honestly and at minimum cost. If you did not meet the target load range, a technical explanation and a redesign would be appropriate.

We recommend that you adopt neither a position of self-justification, nor one of self-deprecation, but try to stand back and consider the events of the week objectively. Notwithstanding all that is written here, students do usually ask us what we want, and we always say that the contents are up to you. What we want is your view of the week, and an account of what you learned and how that came about. It may be as short as 1000 words or it may be six sides of A4. The length is not important, but the quality is.

(You could also look at Appendix 3 of this handbook where the feedback page that will be used for the critical appraisal is reproduced. The ideas already expressed on this page have been condensed into the feedback sheet to facilitate relevant comment

— More information..
I did with my group in the lab:
1- Design the formwork–( attach file image form work structure ):
The weight for the formwork was 4.2 kg .
2- The Casting and after that paint –( attach file image before the test ):
The weight after the casting was 57.5 kg.
( You can see the calcultion in the attach file )
3- The testing–( attach file image after the testing ):
The lower crack was 6 kn .
The ultimate crack was 17 kn.
( PERFORMANCE CRITERIA ;
1. The target ultimate load range is 40 ± 5 kN.
2. At or below 20 kN (the maximum working load) the deflections and cracking must be acceptable.)
————————————–
there are some information should be in the report:
1- strength of cube was 279.4
It was a weak maybe because a lot of aggregate or …..
