Discuss the “impact” of the Tanzimat (1839-1876) on the Ottoman Empire.

Discuss the “impact” of the Tanzimat (1839-1876) on the Ottoman Empire.

This is an explanation to the question:
It is like to do a surgical uplifting to the face; you see the Ottoman Empire got old and they got out of date so they want to give themselves a new look. The Tanizamt was an attempt for the Ottoman Empire to give themselves a new look. It is refurbishment, renovating, reorganizing, renewing the empire. In what? In everything; in society, politics (rulers), economy (money), how to do business, even the re-categorization on what makes an Ottoman citizen, redefining the concept of religion…etc.
You can in this essay discuss the impact of all of that (all what is mentioned in bold above) on the Ottoman Empire. But the Ottoman Empire is a big word, so how am I going to do that in 2,000 words?
So what do you do? You define; you might begin by talking about the general impact at the beginning but then say this essay nonetheless will focus on the impact of Tanzimat on Ottoman society (for example), or Ottoman politics (for example), or on Ottoman economy (for example), or any of the examples mentioned in the first paragraph above, because you can’t in 2,000 words speak about the entire empire.
How to write the thesis statement?
Engage in defining your territory first before you are overwhelmed how vast the territory is; this will comfort you. There is too much to say thus you have to specify. Write a contract / thesis statement, our relationship (between the reader and the writer) will be based on 1,2,3 thus anything out of this frame (1-3) is not my business in this essay. In the thesis say this essay will focus 1,2,3 and move away from what’s not in the contract. If you don’t write a contract the reader will be lost.
IMPORTANT – For example (and you can use this example): This essay will examine the impact of Tanzimat on society (or politics or economy…etc.), this essay will argue that it was a failure project because of evidence 1,2,3 (three evidences on how it affected society and each evidence will be a separate body paragraph). So start with judgment, then say how you will do it.

‘discuss the “impact”’:
The Ottoman Empire for example did things like laws and fireman (we know what they did), but we want to know the “impact”. For example how do these fireman, which were on a legal level, trickle down and impact the empire.
For example, what is the impact of this law in Kuwait that prohibits the use of mobiles while driving? The impact is that the number of car accidents in Kuwait have increased; how come? Because there was a law, but in reality it was not applied and with Apple making new iPhones, people now are not driving but surfing the net while driving and car accidents happen and increases.
A law says no, Tanzimat says we’ll do this and that (put seatbelts…no mobiles), but on the ground what was going on? Was it really renovating? Was is having a positive impact?

The research paper should have 5 paragraphs only:
A.    Introduction (what will you tell the reader) – approx. 400 words
–    start with a brief story, quotation, idea, fact, a general idea…etc. anything that will put the reader in the context of the topic or that might attract the attention where each sentence should gradually become more specific leading the reader to your argument
–    THE INTRODUCTION MUST VIEW THE BIG PICTURE (like a quick movie trailer)
–    then the thesis statement (your argument) must be the last part of the introduction paragraph; it should tell the reader what the essay will be about and what point will you be making

B.    body 1; evidence one (you told the reader) – approx. 460 words
–    you made your judgment in the introduction, based on the judgment the body will unfold the judgment supported with sources as evidence (by using facts, examples, quotes); here you are like a lawyer justifying your self
–    start the body with a topic sentence “first” then details (but do not use “many” quotations; be reasonable – if something cannot be paraphrased and has to be used as it is then put the quote but the quote shouldn’t be very long that takes up many words)
–    you have to cite any idea that does not belong to you

C.    body 2; evidence two (you told the reader) – approx. 460 words
–    you made your judgment in the introduction, based on the judgment, the body will unfold the judgment supported with sources as evidence (by using facts, examples, quotes); here you are like a lawyer justifying your self
–    start the body with a topic sentence “first” then details (but do not use “many” quotations; be reasonable – if something cannot be paraphrased and has to be used as it is then put the quote but the quote shouldn’t be very long that takes up many words)
–    you have to cite any idea that does not belong to you
D.    body 3; evidence three (you told the reader) – approx.

E.    conclusion (telling the reader again briefly but maturely) – approx. 200-250 words
–    you said everything in the 3 bodies, now summarize / review in one short paragraph the main points of your argument and wrap up using more sophisticated and mature words / description because you have explained everything above so now in the conclusion be more sophisticated in the terminology you use; be careful not to restate exactly
–    DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING NEW AT ALL
