Discuss what constitutes “responsible business”

For this assignment, focusing on responsible business topics, discussing the nature and importance of the topics and their relevance to the concept of responsible

business. Students are required to write a report that includes the following aspects:

1. Introduction: Briefly outline the purpose, aims and objectives of the report (100 words).

2. Discuss what constitutes “responsible business” (400 words).
There are diverse interpretations of what responsible business means encompassing related concepts such as corporate citizenship, sustainability, and corporate social

responsibility (CSR). You should compare (and contrast) a range of academic views and interpretations of these concepts in your discussion.

3(a). Analyse ONE of the following five drivers of responsible business (800 words).
Explain the nature of chosen driver (what it is, what does it mean). Discuss how understanding of the driver has evolved over time. Analyse its influence over business

and draw conjectures on how this might develop in future.

Driver – Business ethics i.e. internal and external pressures for more ethical/responsible business behaviour

3(b). Explain the role of government with regard to responsible business (400 words).
Business, government and people all share the responsibility for creating a more sustainable world. In order to consider the specific role of government (at all/any

level), you need to discuss its role as compared to business and people. You also need to consider the tools government can use to help drive business (and people)

towards greater responsibility. You should also examine the extent to which government acts not only as an enabler but also as a barrier to more responsible business.

4. Conclusion: Synthesise the main points from within the report (300 words).
Remember the purpose of the conclusion is to highlight the key findings of your analysis. Return to your definition of responsible business and use this in your

synthesis of your findings.

Whilst the format requested is business report style, the assignment should be strongly academic in content drawing on theoretical concepts and models.  In other

words, appropriately referenced content is expected, drawn from academic journal articles, textbooks, specialist reports, industry standards, government data etc.  Be

analytical NOT DESCRIPTIVE in your approach. The report should contain a balance of theory and concepts, factual evidence from independent, expert secondary sources,

and reasoned argument.

Create a 10- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation based on the topic proposed in Week Six.

Include the following in your presentation:
•Description of the issue of controversy.
•Discussion of how a feminist or postcolonialist (or both) would describe the roots of the problem.
•Discussion of the political or ethical theories that are in evidence in the controversy.
•Your proposed solution to the problem based on the readings and your own research.
•Description of why you think your approach would solve the problem better than current approaches.
