Part of being an educated nurse is having some knowledge about current health practices in the country.  Patients look to nurses as one source of expertise on health matters. In what ways can nursing students recognize the importance and pay attention to political events that affect health care? Discuss an activity to help you and fellow nurses either recognize the importance of a national nursing professional organization, or talk objectively/unemotionally to patients about a current hot topic in health (right now, this is likely the Affordable Care Act or the Ebola epidemic) and its effects on health practices in the US.
